Looking for a way to tell time that’s both stylish and sustainable? Q&Q’s solar-powered watches (via inhabitat) could be just the ticket.
The SmileSolar series of watches features a thin solar panel hidden around the inside rim of the casing, keeping the clean, modern design intact. According to the designers, just one hour of sunlight can provide up to three months of battery life.
So as long as you go outside a bit each day, replacing watch batteries could be a thing of the past. In addition, SmileSolar watches are made of recycled materials.
Sales were previously limited to Japan, but Q&Q is now marketing SmileSolar worldwide. The watches cost $40 each, and Q&Q donates a portion of the proceeds of each sale to Table for Two, which which delivers school meals to children in Africa and Asia.
