The Rachio Iro is a connected sprinkler controller that promises homeowners water savings through more precise irrigation.
According to Rachio (via TreeHugger), what sets the Iro apart from other sprinkler controllers is its ability to adjust watering based on a wide variety of variables, including local weather, seasonality, and the requirements of a given garden or lawn. In other words, it’s smarter than the average “smart” controller.
A WiFi connection also allows users to monitor their watering schedules through a smartphone app, allowing for iron-fisted control over just how much water is used. The app also includes analytics to help track usage.
The basic Iro sprinkler controller costs $249 and covers eight irrigation zones. There’s also a 16-zone version that costs $50 more. It’s available through Home Depot or through Rachio’s website, with an expected delivery date of late June.
