Energy-efficient lightbulbs are great, but what if you can’t find a lamp shade to put over them?
Design group Hulger created the Plumen Drop Top Lamp Shade (A) for its Plumen 001 bulb, in an attempt to show that environmental responsibility and fashionable design don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
The Plumen 001 is billed as the “world’s first designer bulb,” and it certainly doesn’t like the average compact fluorescent. The twisted shape is supposed to create better-quality light, while the bulb itself reportedly uses 80 percent less energy than a traditional incandescent.
So what kind of shade did Hulger pair with its avant grade lighting? Available in tinted or transparent versions, the A-shaped shade is designed to effectively direct light from the pear-shaped Plumen downward. Like the bulb itself, it also makes an aesthetic statement.
The Plumen Drop Top Lamp Shade (A) is currently available for purchase in one of three colors: amber, black, or white.
