Emeco’s 1006 Navy Chair has become a hit for design nerds, and now there’s a follow up that should appeal to people who like things to look good and make them feel good about the environmental impact of their purchases.
The Su stool (via Inhabitat) is designed in the spirit of that chair originally made for the U.S. Navy, but is made from recycled materials. The name “refers to the Japanese word su, which means basic, simple, and pure.”
Those are values the sustainably-minded will be able to get behind, and they’ll also appreciate that the Su stool is available in recycled PET plastic, recycled aluminum, cement, and reclaimed oak. It’s further proof that good design and sustainability don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
